Price Per m2 for the feather edge and Waney/Live edge
Timber cladding is an increasingly popular choice for finishing the outside of commercial and domestic properties. Otherwise known as timber weatherboarding or timber siding, it is an attractive and economical way to finish the exterior of both old and new buildings. Naturally durable woods such as larch and cedar provide a hard wearing, protective layer against the elements and they are excellent insulators.
Many different species of wood are suitable for exterior timber cladding because of their natural resistance to decay. Traditional British timbers such as oak, elm, sweet chestnut, western red cedar and larch have been used as timber cladding for hundreds of years to protect houses from the elements. Imported timbers such asCanadian western red cedar and Siberian larch are increasingly being specified for cladding where a more modern, contemporary appearance is desired.
The various timber species we offer for cladding are available in a range of profiles from the more rustic waney-edge and feather-edge to the clean lines of machined.
Waney Edge Cladding
Waney edge cladding is a very traditional style of cladding usually used to clad the exterior of buildings such as houses, barns and garages. This type of cladding is produced by cutting boards straight from the log leaving one straight edge and one Waney edge (with the bark still on). The boards are erected horizontally, overlapping one board with the next covering the straight edge of each board giving that rustic appearance.
Most Waney edge cladding is left untreated leaving a natural finish without the use of preservatives. This allows the natural properties of the timber to resist decay and insect attack.
Waney Edge boards are available in:
Oak, Douglas fir, Larch & Western red cedar
Average width 200 – 250mm
Thickness: 19 or 25mm
We recommend a 50mm overlap on each board
